I caught myself the first couple of weeks not regretting the surgery so much but being absolutely bored with what I was allowed to eat or should I say drink! Everything hurt going down and I felt like I was going to go crazy if I didn't start eating some real food soon. Once real food started it was another adjustment but a good one because I could actually enjoy tasting food again. Why are you regretting the surgery?

Hang in there. It gets better. The first month was REALLY hard for me, food wise. Every stage was hard for me until I finally got to real food and then it was still a bit of a chore to eat. I kept thinking that I would never get the hang of this and that eating and drinking the right things, the right amount and the right timing were like a full time job. But I will say, that each week was better than the last. As you start to see real movement of the scale and dropping sizes, the excitement starts to build and helps to fade any regrets and wishes for the old you. Also, you will suddenly realize that while you still have to plan, eating right becomes second nature. You probably also will get to a point where you are no longer craving and desiring the things you loved pre-surgery and that food no longer controls your life. That is liberating!

3 wkd post op and I want my old life back.

TiredOfChubRub

Sorry things are not going well presently

Why do you want your life to go back where it was?

are you having physical issues, nautious, vomitting etc.?

are you missing eating/chewing food?

are you having trouble keeping shakes and other liquids down, now into the stage of soft foods?

what exactly is going on?

i never want the part of my old life back - had me eating all the time, trying to fit into clothes that were too tight, mainly not being a healthy happy me.

i am "glad" that person existed before and i have her on the back burner - just to remind myself that she used to exist

i remember how miserable "she" was - the new me is much healthier, no more meds for diabetes or high blood pressure no more CPAP - and no more huffing and puffing - i was always exhausted

i am working on being more confident with myself - getting out in "life" more - just being a new and improved me.

not sure why you wouldn't want to mimic part of whats going on with me, and other sleevers.

please explain - the sleeve has saved me - heavy since 18 - 40 years later - i'm doing pretty well.

Glad to be on the other side ;)

talk to us

take care

good luck

I have lost a ton already. 30 lbs before surgery and 25 lbs since surgery.

BUT....I am having a hard time getting liquids in. I get nauseous every time I eat anything. I am constantly exhausted. I feel like I am back in my first trimester of pregnancy. It sucks.

Thank you so much for all of the positive motivation. Please keep the advice and personal stories coming. It really helps.

You lucky girl..your ticker shows you in ONEderland,,why would you want to go back to the 200's? Is there anything positive that you can think of that you are experiencing that could help you overcome the feelings you are having? I had moments where I asked myself,,why did you do this and I would never really answer that question,,I just did it in a poor pitiful me attitude. So I started answering myself..I did this so my son can wrap his arms around me, so I could breathe when I lay on my back at night, so I could visit stores I never stepped foot in because i was too fat..so I would stop hiding from everyone and everything. I want to do things that I always wanted to do, go places I've never been. Ask yourself and just keep looking toward that light..you can do this.

We posted at the same time so I didn't see your last response. If you are feeling exhausted,,you may have a deficiency and I'd call my dr and have that checked out..just a thought. That would bring me down too,,I hate fatigue. I hope you feel better real soon so you can enjoy your triumphs!

OMG don't ever say you regret doing this, you just have to give your body time to heal and as soon as you start eating real food again you won't be so tired all the time. I felt the same way for about 5 weeks, I even cried a couple of times, but I promise you it gets better! I am 11 weeks out and down 66 lbs and this is without a doubt the best thing I have ever done for myself! Just give it some time and you will feel the same way. I'm cheering you on, can't you hear me!!!!!!!!!

Being nauseous and not being able to get the fluids in would get me down, too. Is it possible you need intravenous fluids? If you haven't been getting enough for three weeks, dehydration could be a problem. Peacequeen is right. Get in to see your doctor. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

It was about 5 weeks before I felt 'normal' again. I had horrible cottonmouth till then, and still do if I'm not careful.

Another thing to consider, if you are on any kind of blood pressure meds, they may need adjusted. If you're doing this good on the weight loss, you may be close to getting off your meds. Just another idea.

Here's to feeling better soon buddy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
