I'm pre-op but I have dealt with hemorrhoids. Blech. Best thing is witch hazel. You can buy the pre-moistened Preparation H wipes, or if you're cheap (like me), you can just buy a bottle of witch hazel at the pharmacy and use a paper towel to apply it.

Unless they're terrible, they usually go away. All they are is swollen blood vessels, so once the swelling goes down, they're done. The really really big ones sometimes need to be surgically removed. I've never had one of those.

I am so sorry. That is kind of a touchy subject. I've never had them but be glad you have not had any issues with Constipation. It took my body a moment to adjust to all the Protein. I try to get Fiber in via veggies or fruit. That is the worst and all those over the counter drugs are disgusting.

Haha.... It really is an unconfortable subject, but I cant really find much info online specifically to wls, so I was wondering if it had happened to someone else..... I think "it" is under control today :) hahaha...... so I feel great! :)

I am sure it will go away. I am glad it's under control. I am sure someone will chime in.

If you use the search function on the forum for "hemorrhoids" (watch spelling), then you'll see answers that may help you. I've had problems w/them off and on due to Constipation which is now under control, but sometimes I over-do it in exercise or long road trips. Unfortunately, once that area gets stretched it can be a long time before simple things don't make them come back. :(

No worries! You just may find more solutions that way since not every user sees each topic. Believe me, I didn't know the correct spelling until I got them and did a LOT of Google searches!

:P

My biggest tip: Sitz bath!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
