For The Newly Post-Op Lactose Intolerant

Recommended Posts

I gave it two tries with the Premier Protein shakes, once at post-op day 3, and today at post-op day 5. Both times, I've had horrible gas, cramps, and explosive diarrhea. Should I wait a little longer and try again, or just start using non-milk based products? I like the taste and the fact that it has 30gr of Protein, but it hurts so much. What do you think?

Try a different brand, something with lactase and/or other enzymes to help with lactose intolerance.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% whey is one brand, and it's available at GNC. You may be able to find it cheaper online if you Google: ON 100% whey Gold Standard™ CONTAINS LACTASE and Aminogen® digestive enzymes to further enhance absorption and make this product even more friendly to lactose intolerant individuals http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3687537

I have been having he same problem with Premier shakes. For the first couple of weeks they were my ppbest source of Protein. Now I just hsn't handle the anymore. I am curious about the mechanism that can make you lactose intolerant post-op.
