I Never Expected This Pain!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Tuesday, and I still have a lot of pain in the incision where they pulled the stomach out. I was walking hunched over too, until I decided to try to walk like a normal person. I'm not rushing it, and I'm still taking pain meds. I will not be one of the ones going back to work in a week. That's what vacation and short term disability were made for. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you and everyone else. I never really read anyone in here who said they had pain and had to walk hunched over -- even my rommate in the hospital hardly used her pain meds!

So I appreciate that having this pain IS normal. :) sorry you guys are experiencing it too, but thank you!

No bending over to pick up toys :) you are healing.

Have someone else do that stuff.

I am one of the freaky ones.... I experienced virtually no pain. My Doc did a great job of removing most of the gas they pumped in me and said that I flew through surgery. I started walking the day of surgery.... 5 days after surgery I walked a mile and have been walking a mile every day since. Hard to explain why everyone is so different.... but we are.... so like everyone said, listen to your body and take the pain meds as needed, It can only get better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
