Texarkolina 201 Posted September 2, 2012 I used it for 3 weeks after surgery. I also used it for 7 months twice a day during pregnancy. Some tips that I learned the hard way.....wait until the alcohol is completely dry.....insert needle quickly (less pain)......push plunger in very very very very slowly (decreases bruising), and do not rub the site at all. It was really no big deal for me, but if takes a little bit to get used to injecting yourself. Good luck!
MJ's comingN2form 103 Posted September 2, 2012 I took mine 5 days after surgery and was given injection twice in hospital
geno5150 168 Posted September 4, 2012 I had to do a few shots prior to surgery. I let my four-year-old daughter do the last one. She loved it. I then pretended it gave me superpowers and had a fun day playing with her before getting cut open and not being able to lift her for six weeks. So, yes. 2 SkinnyMinnie2Be and Sherry77 reacted to this

Justine13 264 Posted September 6, 2012 I have to use heparin and did so during both pregnancies due to a blood clot. Not the most in but doable. I think they r just giving me some before surgery and after. I'm just wondering if they r Doin this because you all had blood clots or is this typical? lindkind 0 Posted September 6, 2012 I'm having surgery Friday and due to a pulmonary embolus I had 10 yrs I will have to do the lovenox as well...but survival rate for a repeat pulmonary embolus patient is rare, so I'm all about some shots! It gets old and your stomach gets sore.

lindkind 0 Posted September 6, 2012 Oh ok...I've heard of them making it a common practice to give lovenox just prior to surgery but not a month after unless you are at risk...guess better to be safe than sorry though...I know you will be glad to be done!
