I wonder how many people had the sleeve at this BMI? I just need to lose 70 pounds. Will be happy if I lose 40-50. THANK YOU

I had the surgery at a BMI of 35 with no co-morbities. I expect to lose 100% of the weight to take me to a normal BMI and my surgeon agrees this is a realistic goal.

There are plenty of lower BMI sleevers out there. Just do your homework so you know what to expect. Also realize that you won't see the rapid weightloss that a high BMI sleever will.

My BMI was a 36 when I got sleeved and they weren't going to do the surgery until they checked my medical records and found that I had diabetes. I had to be persistent and even changed my height from 5'7" to 5'6". But I've lost 77 lbs so far and am looking pretty darn skinny. :)

My BMI was 35 and I was self-pay in Mexico 20 months ago. Reached goal in 10 months but I wanted to lose 82 lbs initially, but kept going until my weight stabilized at 137 or so.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
