Just wondering how everyone manages to get in and out of bed without pain.

I do this funny rolling thing instead of just jumping out. Before surgery, I used to just use my hips/legs to hop out of bed but I wouldn't dare to do that now.

How far out are you? I slept in a chair for the first 10 days because it was too painful getting in and out of bed. If you must sleep in bed, get someone to help you by grasping your arms (not hands) and pulling you up while you use your leg muscles to do the same. Using your stomach muscles will hurt like a mammer jammer!

I still have pain from the incision in my left side but I'm able to get in and out of bed unassisted now. Good luck!

It's hard! Lots of pillows. Rolling to my side and slowly sit up. I ask for help if anyone is home. The worst for me was getting up & down off the toilet. Oucheeee!!!

Ok that is what I am doing. Rolling to the edge of the bed and then try and slide off. R u slepping on your side? I am with a big body pillow to elevate my body just a little.

I laid flat on my back for the first week. Then was able to lay on my right side with pillows supporting my tummy. The left side took a few more days. The trick is to really tuck that pillow under your belly so your belly is supported and gravity doesn't pull on it.

That's exactly what I did. I learned after 3 csections how to get up without too many tummy muscles. I roll onto my side then put my legs down the push my torso up with my arms. I still do it 4 weeks out just to be on thhe safe side. I'm not looking for more pain lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
