A Small Cheat - Is It Very Bad?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 days post op and the desire for solid Protein is driving me crazy. Today, I was travelling back to California. In the airport I ordered chicken noodle Soup. I only drank the broth. But I took a few dime size pieces of chicken, chewed them like crazy and ate them. No arguments from my sleeve. It was so satisfying. Should I be concerned?

No it shouldn't harm you BUT make sure you DO NOT cheat anymore because there's a reason your doctor has you going through phases. The stomach is healing which is why u have to ease into foods. The more u eat that isn't liquids the more your stomach will churn and cause pressure which can cause a leak. And that is something you don't want. You'll be in the hospital for a few months. I'm a month out n on soft foods. I completely understand because just a few weeks ago I felt tha same way! Just hang in there! You'll be on soft foods before you know it. :) just make sure to get all your Protein n fluids in. good luck. !

I agree, think about your healing stomach, it has just had 85% of it excised! You need to let it heal. You can't be hungry drink your broth, lots of liquids and come here for support.

I ministered in the Bronx long ago. A kid from the church offered to show me Manhattan. He was a bicycle messenger and had lived there his entire life.

I was fascinated at how he moved us around on the subway system. I also realized that I would be quite lost without him.

He represented wisdom. He knew the trains.

Life is like the subway system. Lots of trains show up. Take the wrong one and you waste time and engender frustration. Take the wise one and you get where you want to go.

Many folks have made it possible for us to get on the right train. They supply us the wisdom.

We have to supply the self-control to follow their advice.

Impulse must take a back-seat to overall welfare.

chicken is great but your fresh staple line can't handle it yet. You're putting yourself at risk for a leak. Just wait until you're doc says its time for safety reasons!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
