I'm just about 10 weeks or so since my surgery (6/18) and in down about 66 pounds as of this past Monday. I know I've listing the weight. I see the scale moving. I know my clothes are too big. I know people are telling me I lost weight. There are little NSV that tell me I lost weight like ankle strap shoes fitting and my heels not hurting and driving my mothers car without moving the seat back to fit. But why when I look in the mirror do I see the same body I saw before surgery? Does anyone else feel this way? When did it go away? Does it go away?

I can kinda see it in pics but I don't feel like its me weighing less so much as just the clothes that I'm wearing.

I attached pics. I hope it worked. All black is surgery day, 6/18. Pink is 8/27.

Hi there I feel the exact same way!! I had mine 6/6 so I'm just about the same as you and at 60lbs loss. People come up to me all the time and say omg wow you look great and I just don't see it at all. I have looked at before and after pics and still see the same person with no changes. I was warned about this and heard that it can take some time. Hang in there bc you look great!!

Thanks!!

I don't know why we can see it. I have clothes that I can take on and off without openin or unzipping. But it's not completely registering. Lol.

Oh so do I girl! I keep wearing them though and thinking that's part of the problem. Today I went to buy some new jeans and fit in some 3 sizes below what I wore before. I then looked in the mirror just baffled bc I felt like I looked the same

In them but wearing smaller clothes. Oh well I hope my view changes and I get some self confidence back soon ;)

That's what my mom tells me. When I buy new clothes, I'll notice it more. I've bought a couple of new shirts that fit or are now too big. But I'm having trouble finding pants. I don't know if it's because I'm between sizes or the way I'm losing weight but none seem to fit well. I just keep looking forward to the day I can walk info any store and buy something to wear.

Thanks!! Good luck to you too.

I Cleaned out my closet yesterday. It's very sad and empty looking now. I hope it gets full again soon. While cleaning out my closet, I of course tried everything on. I took pics in clothes that I had pictures of myself in when I was heavier. Finally, I can see a difference. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.

The black dress is may 2010 and yesterday. And the pink and black is almost exactly one year. My bday August 2011 and yesterday.

Amazing. Good for you! Can't wait to have a closet full of clothes that don't fit. What an accomplishment! So proud of you!

It's hard for me to see any difference too, despite having people say there is one.

BUT I can see the difference in your photos =) You really can tell. I used to have a pair of pictures like the jean cargos that you have and omg they were my favorite pants for like 5 years....so if you have any idea where you got them so I take a look into them I would be forever grateful.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys!!

Lzuri- those are actually a pair of jeans from rainbow from like 5 or 6 years ago. They were in the back back of my closet. Doesn't hurt to look.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
