consultation at the tlbc

Recommended Posts

Hi Andree

I did my consultation over the phone. I don't think it took too long. They ask you personal info, allergies, previous surgeries, if you are on any medication.

If you decide to go ahead and book the the surgery you need to put $2500.00 down payment which is used towards your $16000.00. I applied for financing through credit medical and that process was more time consuming than the application for surgery!!!

If you want more info about the financing just send me a message I'll tell you my experience.

Hope this helps.

Sixteen grand seems to be cheaper or the same as U.S. prices. I did some nosing around on the main site because I was curious about costs. The average seems to be 14 to 16 grand down there and that is in U.S. bucks. I did find one person who paid $8,000 and another who paid $18,000. I wonder what people pay down in Mexico.

It varies too... I've seen as low as $7000 US. They all seem to be 'all inclusive' things too. Like, your surgery, airfare, hotel stay, etc. A little odd... but a cool idea. We should have something like that here too, for the out-of towners.

Wow! I paid 16 Gs at the TLBC. Maybe I should have shopped around but then maybe I would have chickened out. I dunno. TLBC was easy for me. It is practically within walking distance of my house. Still, I could have saved a lot of $$$....

Yep, you're right, Yoda, and the TLBC is so close to home. I can get filled and defilled whenever I'm in the mood.:clap2: And they promised me that they will do it for life. Wheee!!!!:faint:

Does the TLBC like its patients to keep in touch? Someone phoned me the day after the op to make sure that I wasn't bleeding to death or whatever and I was given a sheet with 3 fill appts on it and that has been it. And for my first fill appt they want me to come 2 hours early! Does anyone know what that is all about? Just asking....

Well, nobody called me afterwards but I knew that I could call them if I was having any problems; they also knew I wouldn't be alone. You were given a sheet with THREE fill appts on it? Strange...how will they know if you need 2 or 3 and when? I was given my first fill appt the day of surgery (basically 6 weeks later)...but afterwards it depended on my unique circumstances. I'm not sure why you have to go 2 hrs early. Unless they've changed something. Certainly for your first fill...Kathy will want to talk to you to see how you are doing and weigh you on their fancy dancy scale (with the print out thing) and Melissa may ask you some questions for a study she is doing...but two hours??

Oh well.....bring a book!! LOL

I just had my surgery on Friday (last week) in case you don't remember (in aa sassy tone) and on the paper it says

"Fill Adjustment Seminar.

Please expect to be at the Clinic for approximately 2 hours for this event"

(it's an event I wonder if they will serve food!!!)

At first when I read it I thought it was just a seminar, but the next paragraph said " Second Fill Adjustment appointment"

That's what I know!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
