Recommended Posts

That's all i wanted to say :)

I tried to make it 12 months, but that crap is for the birds...

I wonder what the best first drink is?? I'm such a beer drinker, but don't want the carbination i haven't had carbination at all...

I'm afraid vodka will knock me out, and i don't do wine... Humm not a bunch to choose from, sugary stuff makes me caca..

Ok let me think about this, i should have planned better :)

I hated wine UNTIL I had surgery. I love red wine and sangria now. My first drink was a vodka infused stawberry lemonade. Pretty sure it was all sugar. Then I did vodka-cran for the rest of the night. I drank beer at about 5 months out. No huge issues. If I chug, sometimes I'll feel a slight tightness but nothing too too bad. and sometimes just to avoid it, I pour my beer into a glasss before I drink it so that it flatens out a little. Now, here's the fun part; Get drunk WAAAYYY faster. No hangovers, Im assuming cause it filters through so fast? the down side to that is, I only stay buzzed for a little while. Example - 3 beers will get me buzzed, but if stop, in 30 mins Im sober. Have fun, be careful, and just play around a lil until you find what works for you.

I wasn't a wine drinker either until after surgery. I don't mind it now and actually kind of like it on the rare occasion I want a drink. I've tried a beer twice (my pre-surgery drink of choice) and the carbonation is too rough on me. I can't even drink half of one now due to it causing issues with my sleeve and feeling extremely uncomfortable. Oh well wine and whiskey for me from now on if I want a drink. These posters are right about it affecting you quickly....you may want to ease into it if you decide to have that drink. Good luck!

LOLOLOLOL I have been wondering about how soon I will be able to drink again too! Good for you! I feel like I'm the alcoholic that never likes to get drunk but loves to have a glass or two of wine every night. Man am I going to miss that!!!!! But like everyone said above- you get drunk easily- makes for a cheap date! All the best to you!

I'm 2.5 weeks post and dying for a margarita. Meeting the girls tonight...not sure how I'm going to play this one as they do not know I had the surgery. Me not drinking and not eating much may raise brows. I might just order but not eat. Any suggestions?

Lol my favorite drink now is Grey Goose vodka w clamato (like a bloody Mary) I get tipsy w my first glass, my hubby luvs it! Lol But the buzz does go away way fast and like others mention the good thing is NO HANGOVERS :)) Drink and have fun!!

Last week, 1/2 vodka margarita totally messed me up. Not only was I toasted, I ended up throwing it back up to the point of dry heaves. Guess I'm not ready yet.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
