Coming Out To My Mother In Law

Recommended Posts

I looooove my mother in law. Buuuut I have had some serious anxiety over telling her. Initially I didn't want to tell her at all but she would be so hurt if I didn't and she later found out. She is extremely holistic. And never had weight issues. She is very thin and would never be able to come close to understanding what it's like to be over weight enough to qualify on bmi alone for sugary. I don't know how to handle this. I know 100% she would not want me to to this. But as I sat across from her talking about life today I felt guilty not telling her... Ah geez. I hope I get the guts to tell and that even though she disagrees is gracious enough to let it be. I know it's because she care. She really does... I'm just so nervous.

Sit her down, take a deep breath, and tell her just what you told us. She may surprise you. You might add, your not telling EVERYONE, but you wanted her to know, because her support means so much.....Good luck!

This reminds me so much of telling one of my best friends. She is an extremely healthy woman overall. I was very hesitant to tell her about this because I had no clue about how she would react. She has ended up being one of my biggest supporters! She is all about health- so of course she wants to see me healthy! She also had really great tips and advice for me. People that truly love you are so much more understanding than we think! Good luck with telling her, it most likely won't be as bad as you are expecting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
