My Doctor's philosophy is that there isn't a lot that will damage the sleeve. So, technically, he said I can have alcohol as soon as I can tolerate it.

yup...I drink without any problems. I dont do the beer or the mixed drinks with soda, but I can handle anything else. Be warned that you will be more sensitive to the effects and a lot faster, like withen a minute or 2. Also straight shots warm the belly really bad, but it doesnt hurt...kinda weird cause you can feel exactly where your new tummy is.

dont do it to much, dont want any secondary addictions, as well as there are alot of carbs and empty calories in them. they have a new brand called skinny girl....havent tried it but it is low carb and calories.....a lot more money. good luck! :D

I had my 1st drink 3wks out-2 small peach ballini at a drive thru daiquiri shop. It took 2 hours to drink each one but I felt fine. Was able to drive home w/no headaches, and no hangovers. I also have tried long island teas but feel fine after 1. I do request they not making as strong..also the scale shoes no weight gain

It depends entirely upon the philosophy of your surgeon. Mine recommends not drinking alcohol after surgery. Its empty calories, if nothing else. Fortunately, I don't drink, so I'm not missing anything.

Wow some of you are drinking really early (and driving? Not the best way to see how they effect you!).

I am a rather serious wine collector and would never have had the surgery if no wine was allowed again. I'd rather be fat :).

My doc insists two months off because even if you can't feel it, it can be irritating to your staple line. He suggests strong moderation until you have lost your weight because it is empty calories. And then champs only after six months in moderation because the carbonization isn't good for you.

He also strongly advised me to practice in the safety of my own home to see how it effects me. And never never to drive right after a drink because it does absorb differently. If you are lucky you will only kill yourself that way. Unfortunately bystanders are normally the unlucky parties in that situation.

Remember that alcohol irritates the stomach. I don't drink very often so it's not a big deal for me, but I think it would be a good idea to hold off as long as possible. You don't want to do anything to compromise your stomach, especially during the first 6-8 weeks. Maybe a sip of someone else's drink?

A drink can me made at different levels. I had to have my cocktail post surgery so I know what I can handle. I can't drink like I use to but I know my body and what I can tolerate. My Dr specific instructions was to not rush it...BTW when I drink and drive its responsibly i lost my fiancée to a drunk driver. Trust I'm not drinking then getting right on the road..to each it's own everyone Dr is different.

I'm sorry but three weeks is rushing it by any doctors standards.

In high school my friend and I were hit by a driver who felt they never drank more than they could handle to be able to drive responsibly. I was lucky to get tossed to the side. Bonnie died crushed between the car and a guard rail. It wasn't a quick death. The woman who killed her seemed quite lucid as she walked away from the accident. Justify it all you wish but next time do it with the image of a 16 year old girl begging for her parents and vomiting blood for ten mins before she finally died.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
