Basically, I was told I have a normal functioning stomach, it is just smaller than the average persons. I had my first drink at about two months out and did fine. I have a tough time with carbonated beverages unless I let them sit for awhile. I do best with wine or, my favorite, white Russians. I was making them with fat free milk, which was good, and recently tried it with almond milk and that was just as good. Post sleeve, I have found I am quite the light weight and I have to be careful as it only takes two drinks of anything for me to feel the effects.

A drink can me made at different levels. I had to have my cocktail post surgery so I know what I can handle. I can't drink like I use to but I know my body and what I can tolerate. My Dr specific instructions was to not rush it...BTW when I drink and drive its responsibly i lost my fiancée to a drunk driver. Trust I'm not drinking then getting right on the road..to each it's own everyone Dr is different.

How do you drink and drive responsibly?

I'm sorry but three weeks is rushing it by any doctors standards.

In high school my friend and I were hit by a driver who felt they never drank more than they could handle to be able to drive responsibly. I was lucky to get tossed to the side. Bonnie died crushed between the car and a guard rail. It wasn't a quick death. The woman who killed her seemed quite lucid as she walked away from the accident. Justify it all you wish but next time do it with the image of a 16 year old girl begging for her parents and vomiting blood for ten mins before she finally died.

This is a forum for open discussion not a judgment zone..yes I had me a cocktail and no need to justify anything to anyone becuz I'm a grown a$$ women. people like u that other people talk about in other forums. People can't have an open discussion with out the opinions of others..enjoy ur wine sweetheart and I will enjoy my ballini's (which is not as strong as your wine)!

Easy! Have me 1 drink, socialize for a few hours then drive home which is 3 min away! BTW I'm not drinking hard liquor or "wine" just a ballini

Drinking and driving is perfectly legal in this country. As long as you're not intoxicated.

Actually you said you had two which took two hours to drink which would still leave their effects in your system. Though you of course didn't know that because they were your first drink since being sleeved.

Btw, bellinis are made from wine. At cheap drive through shops, very cheap wine (sparkling wine or champagne). At three weeks drinking carbonation is foolish at best, but when it comes to testing your ability, testing it with a liquor which goes to your head naturally faster than other types of wine compounds your mistakes. You can not request a lower alchaol Bellini. They are pure sparkling wine over a little fruit juice, typically peach. Saying you had a light Bellini is like saying you had a light martini. It's kinda like being sorta pregnant.

When you attempt to argue your drink of choice my dear...know what the hell you are drinking.

And yes to be clear I am judging you and it's coming out badly. You sound just like the gal who killed my friend. You aren't drinking responsibly. You're just lucky.

Take a chill pill seems you taking things to the extreme! Once again it's a discussion forum not a confessional with the pope and even he can't judge. Relax, relate, release..(dropping the mic)

Everyone's body tends to have a different tolerance level for alcohol. What is important to remember is when we drink, we do responsibly and with an understanding of our bodies limitations. If we know we plan on drinking in excess, then as responsible adults we should have a plan in place prior to doing so for safe transportation home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
