Should I Or Should I Wait?

I think you should try it. Insanity has been one of my goals forever, and once I've worked up to it I totally intend on getting through it.

I have a similar workout that I ordered about two weeks after surgery. I have yet to open the box. It has now been sitting on my dresser for two and a half months! I will make you a deal...if you try your workout tomorrow' date=' I will open my box and try my workout. I guess I just need some extra motivation. ;) I await your post![/quote']

Ok I tried and failed, lol. I'm heading to the gym now, I feel like I'll get a better workout doing something I'm familiar with, maybe when I get down smaller. It's so tough!

Insanity is super tough. If you want a workout like it but not so extreme try Power 90. It is the recommend first step for the "Beachbody" workouts.

I plan on doing Insanity...I did Insanity at my HW of 232...I lost 11 pounds and about 10 inches and I was only 6 weeks into the program. I ended up going out of town and never picked it back up as soon after I made the decision to have surgery and so I stopped working out about 2 months before surgery and needless to say I went back up to my HW of 232. I am only 3 weeks post op now and so can't start but I am hoping to start it at 1.5 or 2 months post op depending on how my body heals. I am doing find now so I hoping it is closer to 1.5 mo...For me its not so much about losing weight fast but I loved the workout and the toning that comes with it. I love that I can do the workout at home before i leave for work...Good start to the day....I also do not want to sit around and wait on the weight to fall off...I want to help Pedro (my sleeve) to do some of the heavy lifting and by starting a regular workout regime early on I am working to make working out as much a part of my lifestyle change as it the healthy eating habits...

I think there's an obsession with losing too fast. It's easy enough to lose quickly with the sleeve.

Not trying to discourage you' date=' though. No harm in trying and see what you think. I'm a guy, so I'm trying to bulk up while trimming down. That's tough, but I don't mind losing slower in order to keep my Protein up and my calories a little higher to try and gain some muscle.

Good luck.

I like your post. I am just 10 days post op, the weight of course is coming off cause I eat 2-4 oz at a time, so far I am just walking & my knee is feeling better w/ 30 lbs off, 100 to go. I have lots of changes to make, head eating, learning proper portions as the weeks go by, I sort of don't want the pounds coming off too quick cause I am gonna feel naked, I am going slow and steady for a lifetime. Thanks again for your post

I agree with the post about being obsessed with losing too fast. I agree that we lose rapidly with the sleeve and you don't want to put your body into shock. My personal opinion would be to stick with ur workout routine as it is at the moment, then make yourself a promise to either restart insanity at (blank) months post op or when you get to a certain weight (like 30 lbs from

Goal). Because when ur A few months post op or a few months away from goal, your caloric intake will be higher than it is now, and ur body would have had more time to heal. Sorry I haven't really looked to see how long post op u are but I would hate to see u harm or injure urself. I do admire you motivation and spirit and hope I will have the same when I'm post op. I'm 272 right now pre op and goal 130 post :)

Thanks for ur opinion. I think that's what I'm going to do, I'm going to do done weight training too this week coming up, I want to lose more and I'm kinda stalling right now and maybe that will help. Any ideas about weights and what u do us appreciated people.

I did Insanity once at the end of last year and although it was hard, I loved it. I felt that I was stronger and had so much more energy. I want to do it again also, but I am going to talk to my NUT first to find out how much extra Protein and calories she thinks I need to add so that I can do it safely. I don't want to do it to lose weight faster (as someone mentioned above), but bc I want to build up my strength and muscle while losing weight. My worst fear is to lose this weight and still be weak bc that is not at all what I want. Being healthy is the point so while I'm definitely excited to lose weight, I want to build up my muscle mass as I go. If you find anything out, keep us posted! :)

The most important things with weights:

  • Get started
  • Be safe, meaning get training and instruction if you need it. Even if that's just to start.
  • Don't lift too often
  • Don't lift too much
  • Lift for your goals
  • Mix it up: exercises, sets, reps, machines and free weights, etc.

Start off with 2-3 days per week. I would recommend you do either:

  • A whole body workout, like a circuit, one or two exercises per muscle group max (legs, arms, shoulders, chest, back, abs)
  • Or, split your body into sections: two days a week, you can do one upper, one lower. Three days a week you can do legs one day, upper body pull muscles one day (back, arms/biceps), and upper body push muscles another day (chest, shoulders, arms/triceps)

That's just a taste, I don't want to try and write a novel here. Just do something to get started and worry about doing it perfect later.

What's "insanity"?

Insanity is a crazy intense work out program you do at home. Google it or if you have cable it always has infomercials. I plan on starting it again too.

That's what I think I'm going to do. I really should start weights, maybe I'll see more weight come off, thanks! Anyone in Houston workout at lifetime fitness let me know ;)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
