It's normal but does get better, I promise. I've been there, especially with the melt down. Keep sipping even though it may piss you off because you are trying to stay hydrated any way you can at this point.

Hang in there!

I had a very hard time with just plain Water, and, in fact, almost 2 years post op, it just still tastes funny (which I have heard other sleevers say as well). I drink a lot of "add to water" things like Arizona Ice Tea Sticks sweetened with splenda, or MIO. If water isn't working, try a couple of different things to keep your fluids up.

I've been watching videos on YouTube and one lady had the same issue. She froze most of her liquids it was easy to go down.

surgery date 12/3/12 with Dr Goreki NY

try mixing the Water with some low calorie gatorade. It helped me get water in a lot. :)

I'm 5 1/2 months out and still struggling with hydration in general, especially plain Water. It just doesn't feel good, and I'm frustrated trying to stay hydrated. I do historical reinactments, and in the summer heat, and all those clothes.... yeah. Hydration is key. I literally am sipping constantly then, and it gets annoying. I find that unless water is ice cold, or has some sort of additive like MIO or Crystal Lite, I can't hack it. I'm hoping this gets better, but I think I'm just going to have to live with it. Small price to pay in the long run, every time I look in the mirror. :) Hang in there.

Try getting a cup of ice from Sonic I chew this ice and it keeps my mouth wet for some reason I have constant dry mouth and if you get a big cup you getting your fluids. Helps with craving and getting Fluid. Good luck!!

I can tolerate it only if I add a bit of apple juice (no sugar added) to it. I will put in about 6 oz and add 2 oz of apple juice, and then add a bit of ice. It has really helped. I was told to do the same with Propel Zero. I have not tried Gatorade yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
