Yep. Its driving me crazy!

Me too! I called the nurse today because I was really scared that I may never "go" again. She said milk of magnesia and to use Miralax or a benefiber to keep things moving.

I just stared puree wednesday. I have had tuna, greek yogurt with canned peach slice in it, mashed up chicken, cottage cheese and 1 Protein Shake a day. The lack of veggies and Fiber is really taking its toll.

What phase are you on?

I'm on the same phase as you. I have been eating chicken, yogurt, cream of wheat because I tried oatmeal and have discovered I don't like it anymore. I also eat cheese (babybel lite) deli turkey shaved with a few crackers. Today I had tuna for lunch, that alone was 20 grams of Protein with 3-5 crackers. I drink milk and lots of Walmart brand of crystal light. I dont do shakes as they make me go to the bathroom and ive been doing pretty good getting in my protein from food. I use my fitness pal to keep a record of it. My calories run around 500-800 a day. I am losing, like 2 lbs a week. I thought I'd lose more faster but I guess because I had a lower bmi I'm gonna lose slower? Not sure about that. How about you how is your weight loss coming along. I was sleeved 8/14.

I lost 10lbs the first two weeks (plus the 10 i gained in the hospital). I just lost another 3 when I started puree. I feel so much better with real food than that full liquid business, dont you?

I definitely feel more human than I did before. It helps with the cravings. Have you eaten mashed potatoes and what kinds of foods are you blending? I growing tired of the same things.

I made that ricotta bake...it was so good. I cooked chicken in the crockpot and mashed my portion apart with a fork. I have egg white & cheese, a dollup of greek yogurt on Tomato Soup, cottage cheese. I really haven't blended anything, NUT said if I can mash it with a fork and chew real well it would be fine. I am staying away from bad carbs because they have always been my weakness and so far I haven't had any cravings. Thank you sleeve!

Have you tried anything good?

I am still having one shake a day to get enough Protein. I know what you mean...i take too big a bite and sips without thinking and I forget to go slowly at first. Practice, practice, practice.

It's going to get better!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
