The Absolute Best Protein Shake

Recommended Posts

I have finally found the best Protein Shake. I've been experimenting with making different shake recipes. I made this one for my morning shake today and I loved it!

214 Calories (which is fine for me as I try to get 200 for breakfast)

18 carbs (same as above, the majority of my carbs come in the morning)

3 grams fat

32 grams Protein

49 grams of Calcium (this is big for me!)

14 grams of sugar - a little high but the sugar is mostly from the fruit and yogurt

1/2 cup Unsweetened Coconut Milk

1/4 cup Non-Fat Greek Yogurt (I used Chobani)

1 scoop chocolate Protein Powder (I used Unjury Chocolate Splendor)

4 small Strawberries, halved

2 T. Torani sugar-free vanilla Syrup

4 Ice Cubes

Blend in Magic Bullet or Blender and Enjoy!

This sounds so delish! I wouldn't think coconut milk was allowed- I love coconut! Do you have any recipes using extracts and unflavored protein powder? My nut gave me samples of "Bariatric Advantage" and the unflavored was the best- you can really taste whatever you add, like strawberries and I used pumpkin pie spice for a fall-ish taste (even though it's still hot and humid in NY!).

My NUT said Coconut Milk is great. It's not really sweet or anything. It's also not the condensed kind like you buy for cooking. I only use flavored Protein Powder, and only powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury brand as that's the brand I like. I also use Unjury's chicken broth flavor in Soups and recipes calling for chicken broth. Good source of Protein.

I make a pumpkin shake with pumpkin, the pumpkin spice, vanilla protein powder and some sugar free Torani syrup! It's. Good too.

I just froze some banana slices and I'm going to try a chocolate shake with banana, Greek yogurt, and vanilla Syrup for tomorrow's Breakfast I'll let you know how it comes out.

Thanks for recommending Unjury Protein Shakes- I wanted to order my 3 week Pre-op supply. I called the 800 number and the sales person was so helpful- explaining what whey protein is, providing me samples of other flavors and recipes. I had no idea what the health and weight loss benefits were from whey protein! Now I know! Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
