I Have A Odd 10 Day Diet

Recommended Posts

I have a 10 day preop diet but starting to think I have a odd one. I can have cottage cheese, cream Soups, oatmeal, coffee and tea milk V-8 juice, pudding and yogurt along with the regular sugar free stuff popsicles Jell-O. I don't read a lot about others with a 10 day diet like that :0. No word about Protein in it no shakes no bars . For Breakfast I can have one cup of oatmeal a cup of coffee. Midmorning snack yogurt . lunch I can have one cup cream Soup cottage cheese and a glass of milk. Afternoon snack pudding. dinner I would do what I did for lunch. And an evening snack. This seems like a lot to me is this a normal perop diet?

That's some hybrid version of the 14-day liver shrinking diet, methinks.

It's basically the post-surgery week 2 diet. Isn't gonna hurt, will probably help shrink the liver some. Every program is different, I guess.

it seems like it is just trying to get you some lower calories with a good mix of Proteins carbs and nutrients... likely a normal lower cal balanced diet to keep you from the "last supper" mentality ;)

it sounds fine to me. very much like my pre op diet. I did have some Protein Shakes though. Your nutritionist must that's enough Protein. They mainly want to shrink the fat in your liver to make the surgery a little easier for them. The protein shakes should come full force in the two weeks post op.

Good Luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
