4.5 Months Out And Weird Gurgling When I Eat!

Recommended Posts

The strangest thing just started this week. When I eat- Protein, fruit/veggies...whatever...my stomach gurgles and little bubble (like mini belches) come up. It's not painful or uncomfortable...just really weird and out of the blue. I am not drinking with meals nor eating anything especially gassy. I wonder whether I am eating too fast (still have trouble with that) and taking in too much air. But, why would that start now? I see my surgeon in 2 weeks...if this persists I will call before.

Also, the Constipation has come back. I was good for 3 months and POW! But, I am stressed and so busy at work. I drink all my fluids, but I tend to suck it down in clusters versus drinking constantly all day.

Yup- it went away and came back now. The NP said it was normal and nothing to worry about. Eat slow to avoid swallowing air.

Look up "gurgles" or "gurgling." Or even "nurps" (my own term). This comes up pretty frequently. It's very common. It may or may not go away. I had it the full 6 years I was banded, lost it when the band came out, and the day I was sleeved it came back. It's really nothing to worry about in and of itself. We just made strange noises. :)

We refer to my gurgles as my little aliens. My work colleagues are great and just giggle and support me.

My doc says that they will come and go. Something about air pockets.

But no harm.

My tummy still 'talks' when I eat, it's 'vocal' right now and I'm just drinking coffee!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
