laurenpaige333 0 Posted August 28, 2012 WHat is everyone eating at 5 weeks out, or what did you eat?!
PdxMan 4,292 Posted August 28, 2012 5 weeks out I was eating purees. Any Soup ... I pureed it. My fav was smoked ham & lentil. Great Protein, healthy carbs and bold flavor. I also did chicken veggie a lot, too. I transitioned to turkey chili and also enjoyed clam chowder, but the ham and lenil was my go-to. I was so desperate for flavor and that fit the bill. As time moved on, I pureed less and less to transition my stomach to more solid foods. Worked for me.

If homemade, where did you find the recipe? Thanks!

Thanks![/quote'] Oye, it was homemade, so ... I just got some smoked ham hocks from the grocery store, soaked lentils overnight, and tossed in lots of onions, carrots and peas. I love peas in Soups. I added a tablespoon of chicken bouillon and cooked in a crock pot all night. Took the hocks out, peeled off the meat, diced and puréed. So good. I make a good sized batch, for sure, and put the leftovers in 8oz mason jars. You know ... Jelly jars and put them in the freezer. Walk out the door to work with one and I ate it all day long. cheap eating, too.

I wouldn't try it. I couldn't do solid meats (steak) until I was 6 months out. I blended chicken and tuna with a fork until then. And with crackers? Did your NUT say crackers were OK for you? I can't imagine they would, but I have heard of crazier things. Have you asked your NUT this question? Seems like a meal closer to 5 months than 5 weeks. Izuri 428 Posted September 3, 2012 I'm about 5 and a half weeks out and I eat a wide variety of things. I'm on soft foods now until 3 month appointment. I have had: meatloaf (ground turkey), sloppy joes (ground beef), caprese salad (cutting off skins/seeds of Tomato, leaving off basil), baked salmon, tilapia, cottage cheese, canned chicken (cause it's softer) mixed w/ pizza sauce with ff mozzarella on top to soothe my pizza craving - didn't work but still was tasty, string cheese, mushy/very soft veggies, a lot of Soups - usually i add Beans and cook until really soft to add some Protein, still on a lot of Protein shakes, I've tried a couple different types of fruit, like bananas - stuff without any kind of skin, cream of wheat, many types of cheese, cooked chicken in crockpot w/salsa until soft then shredded and added a little guacamole/salsa/cheese, stew w/soft beef - took out potatoes, I think in the next week or so I'll make some spicy lentil dahl which I loved pre-op, tuna fish salad - great if you add just a little tomato and avocado, egg salad, scrambled eggs, yogurt.... That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I try and have something different most days because if I eat the same my body likes to get into a routine. Once it's in that routine it likes to stall, and those can be hard to break. Have had that problem other times trying to lose weight. Hope that helps!
