I have heard nothing but good things about him, I think you made a great choice... of course this is a very personal decision tho. I'm sorry i haven't been to him, I'm actually scheduled with Dr Ponce on 9-14 but I went back n forth between Ponce, Garcia and Kelly for weeks and finally just picked one LOL

do a search for Dr Garcia, you will find tons of good stuff about other peoples' experiences!! also you can go to obesityhelp.com and do the same thing.

I had surgery with Dr. Garcia and it was a great experience! Everything on the websites I looked at was represented exactly how it was, and all the reviews I read on this site and through google were accurate! If you use the search bar at the top right, you can find a lot of info and reviews of Dr. Garcia. I booked my surgery through alighterme and they were absolutely FANTASTIC! The only complaint I had was that their pre-op diet info wasn't super detailed so I had quite a few questions, but whenever I asked, I always got quick responses!

Im sxd with Dr Garcia in Mexico October 27. I chose him due a couple of reasons:

There are a bunch of great reviews for him on this forum. If you go to the top right of the page and type in Dr Garcia Mexico in the search bar and make sure "forum "is selected, not members, or blogs, etc...you should have a bunch of good stuff to peruse.Ive only read one negative experience, and it wasn't pinpointed to bad care...she said she was expecting better aftercare... If you search, you'll find her experience, but that's one in many. He has a long list if credentials that included teaching others how to do the sleeve.

He uses a hospital, not a clinic. They are a full services hospital there, and if something does happen, they're well prepared to handle any situation.

The price was totally a factor! Not solely because i wanted to save $500-1000, but think about it: he's offering a special, peeps are gonna schedule and have been like crazy, and he'll have that many more surgeries under his belt!! After reading all the positive experiences along with all the other bonuses, i was pretty confident in my decision. The docs in Mexico have done many more sleeve surgeries than our docs here in the states. Numbers are big to me. I want experience. Im good with my decision and I've been researching for several months...good luck! Keep us posted:-)

I'm def going to do that right now thank you;)

I feel I've made the right choice but my mom keeps talking about US drs that of course I can't afford she's not against it but just wants me to be 100% sure which is understandable I'm a mom myself its normal to worry but she makes me second guess my decision. Best wishes to you ill def try to keep you posted ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
