Hey my name is Kim. I'm 22 years old. I been overweight pretty much my whole life. I've always giving wls a thought but always managed to talk myself out of it. I've tried countless time losing weight ilose nd gain. My hightest weight was when I was 16 263 I lost 78lbs in a short period I was barely eating and walking a lot but I got pregnant and ever since I gained almost all tthe weight back and I haven't been able to lose more than 20lbs and even then I gain it back so fast. I've been reading alot of the forums on here nd I just need to talk to someone that knows what I'm going through or can relate because I cnt talk to my family about it they are trying to talk me out of it nd they just don't understand :(

Welcom Kim! I think you' ve found the right place to talk to people that are going thru the same. I'm relatively new myslef and still at the beginning stages of getting sleeved. Don't just stop here check around the site. You'll find that people have some of same issues, concerns, good stuff , not so good stuff about WLS. when i forst joined in June I thought it was gonn be "Just another site where people tell their business and it would be of no interest to me. I was wrong, 2 1/2 months later I'm still here and learning stuff too. It's all here any question and great answers. Best wishes to ya!

Hi Kim, welcome! You will find pretty much anything you need to on this site and most everyone is really nice and supportive. I am sorry your family isnt on board with this, I cant really relate to that cause mine was and I told everyone I could about what I was doing and why. Only person that matters is YOU....you do what you need to do, this is your decision, no one elses. I can honestly say I have no regrets and feel like a million bucks! Keep us posted ok, would love to hear how you are! Kim

got pregnant and ever since I gained almost all the weight back

kimmyk

sorry your family isn't supportive now.

my siblings didn't approve of my surgery pre-op. either, after awhile - they came around - hopefully that will happen to you too

you want the sleeve, go for it - don't let family or friends discourage you and try to talk you out of it.

its always great to find a support group and talk to people, maybe their still on the fence too -

there will be newbie sleevers there asking similar questions as you.

veteran sleevers also who will give you plenty of help and advice, and explain to all how wonderful the sleeve is and how it will change/save your life

your doctor/surgeon can possibly help you find such a group - or steer you in the right direction

its your mind and body - your weight - and your decision - you'll be so glad after you have WLS that you did go with the sleeve :)

want to tell you and all other "youngons" how wonderful it is that you will be sleeved so early in your life :)

the main regret so many of us have/say is "i wish i had my sleeve done earlier :(

hope you make the wise decision and go with the sleeve

good luck

**************************************************************************************************************************

one more thing (i know i know i talk a lot ;) )

when i was 21 i was pregnant with my only child - gained lots of weight :(

i always said, i just had a baby and can't get this weight off- after 38 years, can't get away with saying that anymore

after you get sleeved, you won't need to use that excuse ;)

Thank you guys so much. I'm pretty sure once I make my decision they will be on board with me. Its just overwhelming I believe they think I'm taking the easy way out. They don't know how I feel struggling with this since I was a child. But I'm going to leave this in God's hands nd I know the choice I make will benefit me greatly I want to enjoy my twenties :) I'm going to a seminar on September 8 I'm anxious already

Welcome!! Things were not easy initially with my family but they have come around. But it's still not the same as talking to people going through or have gone through this process. Everyone on here is super nice and non judgemental!!! Again welcome and lots of luck to you! Keep us updated!!

Anyone that tells you that you're taking the easy way out doesn't understand what you are about to do. Like my surgeon told me.... This isn't an easy way out, this is the toughest desicion you will make and you're a strong person for doing that. It's not like you will live your like you did before surgery.... This is a lifestyle change and the WLS is a tool to help you in the process. Good luck and hopefully you will find someone at home that will be in your team to help you.

Thank you so much. This is a very hard decision but then again not that hard because I have a daughter and I want to be around for a while and I need to be healthy to enjoy my daughter she's sooo active

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
