Thanks everyone! And my dog is adorable, though she could probably use a VSG!

Just wait until I start putting up the pics of my cat in his motorcycle jacket.

Catracks: You have missed a lot! LOL :)

Or not much. Sheeeesh!

I can understand the everything in moderation folks, but if you mention that you have crossed certain foods off the list forever, you get a bunch of posts about how miserable I'm going to be for withholding food or that it's going to make me binge. I don't do junk food anymore. So what? I sure did suffer today eating chicken breast, broccoli salad, string cheese and celery with almond butter. God knows I should be obsessing over the Cheetos and chocolate cake I didn't have.

Oh crud. I'm just in a really bad mood. Yesterday at this time I was paddling my kayak in the sunshine. Today I'm stuck in a friggen cubicle. This bites.

I went to Silverwood Lake. You probably know it - off the 15 and 138. The lake is a bit trashy in parts because the idiots don't pick up their own filth, but it's still outside and still pretty in it's desert-like way. I haven't been in a kayak for YEARS. It was a blast! Just got mine off Craigslist.

We are always going up to Big Bear Lake and staying in our cabin. It's so beautiful! I have learned to hate the contractors up there though! Ughhhhhhhh! I will have to look into Silverwood. :)

It's nothing compared to Big Bear in size or beauty. I have seen what you are dealing with by way of contractors. OPh well. Jobs.

Holcomb Valley is one of my favorite places BTW. I like to drop down the desert side into Lucerne Valley to ride motorcycles.

I think it is great if you can take foods off your list forever and really do it I don't think anyone should have anything negative about it. I just dont think people should be criticized for not being able to do the same. l know if I could just say no to cakes, pies, ice cream etc. FOREVER I would not need this surgery at all. I can't do that if I told myself I was never going to have ice cream again I would obsess about it and end up binging at some point. That being said I am not someone who is going to be asking or probably even thinking about those things the week after surgery. I will follow my doctors plan through all the stages and when I get to full foods I will make smart choices 100% of the time but for me that may mean having 1 or 2 bites of a Birthday cake or a little wine on special occasions.I think everyone knows what got them to where they are for me it was extreme dieting and then rebound binging. I am not going to put myself in a position to do that again.I am one of those people who think words like never and forever literally and seriously and I know I can't honestly use them when I am talking about certain foods.

I think it us fine to have a few bites of whatever you like. Some it is sweets and others hamburgers or whatever but keep experimenting to recreate that something into a healthy version. I like mostly healthy stuff but my weakness was portions. That can make anything unhealthy. I just had a hamburger about the size of a half dollar. I am full and happy. I do not feel deprived at all, now I wish I was able to have some radishes but too soon to try those yet. I have also found that greek yogurt is good in so many things and it tastes indulgent. Mix a little grated cheese ( I use parmesan) and some dried ranch dressing with some chicken if you are at that stage ( I have used baby food meats) and some pepper. I enjoy it. This is really good in the mushy food stage.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
