I was sleeved in April of 2011. My lowest weight, about 6 months ago, was 178. I am now back up to 200. I just can not seem to get my mind back to where it needs to be!!! I do not want to go back to the way I was before this surgery. I am desperate. Please, someone, anyone, talk me through this!!

Just think of how good you feel when you were at your lowest weight. Do something good for yourself, change up what you were doing a bit to get back motivated! Try something like Aqua Zumba, it's fun and low impact but tones and it's a great place to make some new friends!

You can do this!

I'm so sorry that you are going through this, it is certainly something every one of us fears. If it were me, I would go to my surgeon's office. Mine stressed over and over again to make sure we come back if we have fallen off track. They won't judge you, your success makes them more succesful!

Good luck

Can you share with us what's going on? What are your triggers (causes) for you to eat more or the wrong foods? What types of foods are you eating? Portion sizes?

Let's just get a grip on this right now. you had been very successful in using your sleeve as a tool until now. Now you need to readjust your thinking to the sleeve being a tool. Now use it. Look up LilMissDiva's The Basic Bootcamp diet and get back to the basics. Get rid of all your junk foods. Go back to eliminating the sugars in your diet. And visualize a healthier eating habit to help get back on track. Before you eat, ask yourself, "Am I hungry? Then drink Water to eliminate thirst. This go back to basics. For a couple of days, drink a lot of Soups to cleanse your body of the sugar cravings. You can do this, you've done this before. So what if you gained some back, now it's time to kick a** and get back on track! :)

You need to jump start your brain and your body into getting this right. When I did my pre-op diet, I anticipated this type of thing might happen to me. I wrote down in my journal, "if you find yourself at a crossroads where you are not losing anymore, or starting to gain weight again, remember that the PRE-OP DIET WORKS! DO IT!" My pre-op diet was two weeks long. Week one was two meals of Protein Shake and one meal of lowfat Protein with a veggie. Got to choose one of each, lowfat yogurt OR lowfat cottage cheese, 1/3 cup fruit, SF Jello or pudding. Week two was all three meals protein shake plus one of each of others. It was hard, pre-sleeve, especially the first four days...but I just kept reminding myself it was only two weeks. I lost 15 lbs and cleared all carbs and sugar from my body, so no more cravings. So, if I were in your postition, I would jumpstart things by going back to the basic pre-op diet. You can do anything for two weeks!! Once you have cleared the carbs and sugar from your system, commit to eating the way you were told starting out. Eat protein first, then veggies, then other carbs if there is room. Do not drink 30 minutes before or after your meals. Slow down your eating, chew well and listen to your body. If you are not exercising, then consider adding more exercise, but I would start with the simple things first and work your way up into the right mind set. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I agree... going back to the beginning makes sense. If you have issues with carbs, remove them. Detox your system by returning to very start. liquids, then mushies, then soft foods... Protein first, then veggies, then fruits. If you make the right choices, you shouldn't have room for the triggers and fat-producers. Drink at least 80 ounces of Water per day. Take a 30 minute walk, minimum. You can do this! You already did!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
