Frustrated! What Am I Doing Wrong?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I was sleeved 8/2, so I'm a little over 3 weeks post op. The first week, I lost 12 lbs! I could hardly believe it! Since then, I've lost 3 more lbs. It's been super frustrating, as the scale will be down one, then up one, then down one over and over again. I know there is a stall around 2 weeks out-but does it last for two weeks?! I am exercising, nothing crazy, walking and elliptical. I average between 650-800 calories. Any ideas/help/advice? Thanks in advance.

You have lost 15 pounds in three weeks. That is an average of five pounds a week! Awesome! If you were on weight watchers you would be doing a happy dance! There is typically a stall at around the three week mark. Mine lasted a few weeks with the scale bouncing up and down a pound or two daily. If you haven't already, start measuring yourself and whenever you hit a stall, measure yourself. Chances are likely you are losing inches. Also, look at your Protein intake. I know at three weeks I was not getting enough. Try to increase it a bit if you can. It can help break the stall. Be patient. If you are eating the calories per day you mentioned and getting exercise, your body has no choice but to lose! I know it's frustraing, but it happens. I have experienced two stalls in my 11 weeks post op. Both have lasted three weeks, BUT the important thing is that the scale is going down over time and not going back up! I didn't let the second one bother me, but I did take the time to evaluate what I was eating to see if I needed to do any tweaking.

I know! :) You're not having enough patience. :) The stall usually starts around 3 weeks and can last a couple of weeks. It's just your body adjusting to your new eating habits. Give it some time and you'll be amazed at your results! :)

Allright :) Thanks Ladies. I know this is the most successful I have ever been. I just need to stop comparing myself to other's losses. I am usually around 60-70 grams of Protein. thanks for your encouragement!

Here's a good article that explains why you have the 3 week stall.

http://www.dsfacts.c...or-plateau.html

Thank you for this article, it should really get pinned so everyone can read it as I see this type of question several times a day. I knew about the stall, but never knew why! It was very interesting to read this and it makes sense! Thanks Again!

This is the hardest part of our journey. Being patient and knowing that our body will lose our weight. I recommend putting away the scale and weighing 1 time per week. Weighing yourself daily is going to drive you crazy. I use to weight daily and now I find myself forgetting to weigh. Such a relief. However, I forgot today and am not able to post my weight for the labor day challenge and that does bother me.

You are going to lose your weight and have such a wonderful smile on your face for your success! This is a life changing journey and we will reap the benefits of it. Here are some tips for success:

  • Never give up.
  • Keep your goal within reach while staying focused.
  • EXERCISE!
  • Log your calories
  • Surround yourself with a positive support system

You can do this! We all can! :)

Your stall lasting for 2-3 weeks or even more is perfectly normal. I just possibly have started to get over my first stall, which lasted almost three weeks. We will see tomorrow when I get on the scale. Hang in there - our bodies are just adjusting. I was getting pretty ticked about it once it started to get over two weeks and found that just venting on my blog or going out and getting a bit of exercise helped me get it off my mind. It's hard not to be stressed about it, but stress just raises your cortisol level, which causes weight retention. The scale will start to move again, don't worry!

I read the link, thanks butterbean. I was particularly interested in the fat calorie shock. Having been successful om the original high fat atlins diet for 2 years, i believe this is definitely a

Way to shake up your metabolism and fat burning. Imho.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
