I just wanted to let you know that I know a lot of you are worried about pain after surgery. And I am here to testify that not EVERYONE has pain. Whether it be gas pains or incision pains some people do not have any problems what so ever. Everyone is different so don't base your nerves on what youve read from someone else's experience. I came out of surgery and never once had gas, nausea, or any sort of pain. I am 3 wks post now and I do have an occasional muscle ache in my abdomen but this is the first an only time ive had any discomfort. So cheer up!! You're gonna be great!! You are taking the first step into your new lives. GO GET U SOME SKINNY!!

Glad to hear you didn't have pain. I was in a moderate amount after waking up in recovery, I think I rated it a 4-5, very uncomfortable but not intolerable.

It took about an hour or two to get that under control. And then for the one day I was in the hospital I jammed on the morphine drip button as often as possible just to keep the pain from potentially coming back. And because in the hospital there's not much to do but rest, sleep and walk. And I'm always gonna love painkillers when I have a legal excuse to take them, which isn't often.

By the next morning I was getting off the drip in prep to go home, and after that I had little to no pain. I took some liquid Lortab they sent me home with a few nights here and there to help me sleep, but that's about it.

You are right, everyone is different. I think preparation is the key: lose some pre-surgery weight, and walk as much as possible before and after surgery. I fully believe you will have fewer complications and less pain the more you prepare yourself.

I woke up in recovery with awful pain. My first word was "pain." They must have treated it because the next time I woke up I was in my room and painfree. From then on I had no pain, never used the drip and took no pain medicine at home.

I kept pushing the self medication thingie when I knew I had to move in preparation but honestly, I didn't have much pain either. I think the worst part was just trying to get comfortable without moving the sutures too much (and I see no way around that really until they start to heal). I would have been more than willing to take on that pain however if it still meant the outcome I'm looking at right now :D shedding pounds would be well worth it imo

Same for me. I had no pain after Day 2, and the bulk of that pain was from the general and the pain meds (nausea). I was amazed that I needed no pain meds once getting home!

I am not the norm, but I am grateful!!

I feel like this was written for me and thank you ! (I know it wasn't but it was just what I needed to see)

My surgery is 9/4 and I have been a nervous wreck the passed couple days. I have a general feeling of anxiety over me and I can't eat. I am also very emotional.

I don't know necessarily if its the pain or what that has me so worked up but seeing your post did make me smile. It seems like recently everything I was reading was on the negative side.

Thank you for the encouragement!

Odee

I also did very well. I do remember waking up in recovery saying "my tummy hurts, my tummy hurts!" they gave me some good drugs and that was that. I was also given a pain medicine button that I (or my husband) dilligently pushed every 15 minutes. This was KEY for me. I kept up on pain meds and it helped so much! I did get the hiccups ALOT afterwards. I think it irritated my sleeve and caused some excess swelling - but all in all I healed quickly and am feeling so much better now @ 10 days post op!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
