I'm scheduled for surgery on Wed and it's Sunday night now. I feel like I might be getting a UTI. Will this postpone my surgery?

Maybe if I ignore it, it'll go away.

I think you need to tell you doctor. You don't want to go under with an infection.

Ignore it- absolutely not!! Tell your surgeon do they can treat it before Wed!! You have time to flush it! Otherwise it could spread during surgery .

A) Start taking a cranberry supplement. B) drink a gallon of Water a day, and c) tell your surgeon! They're going to insert a catheter and catheters can cause UTIs, but in your case you already have one so it can spread the UTI to your bladder/kidneys and speaking from experience, don't let it go! I had a UTI about a month ago and I let it go with just AZO and it turned into a HORRIBLE kidney infection - bad enough to the point where I was hyhaving to take percocet for the pain - NOT fun at all!)

As it turns out, I told the surgeon during my preop appt, and he gave me an antibiotic, no worries.

I was mainly concerned they'd postpone the surgery and I definitely did not want that!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
