It's been a month since my sleeve. I did the liquid diet for a week, then full liquids for another. Ever since that, I'm been good with most solid food. I do chew it into a complete pulp, but no problems at all. I have not had any kind of Pasta, pizza, soft breads or Tomato products. Worried they will make me sick. Is it normal to have no foods that give me no problems? I have been losing, about 40 lbs since the week pre op diet.

Yes it's normal. There are some of us who nothing effects. So far I've been able to eat anything I've wanted with no problems except bread. Bread sits on my stomach like concrete so I avoid it now.

Tomato gives me no problem. Early on it might not be the best idea to push your luck because they're so acidic. But I've had tomato in salad recently and had no problem at all with it.

I am the same way. I haven't had a problem with anything I've tried so far. Count your blessings.....but it means you have to have more self control.

I just keep reading about how rough some have it and was thinking I'm screwing up if I'm having different reactions.

It's been said before, but so many people have no real problems at all. It's just that people rarely bother to get on here just for the sake of posting that.

I thought I was in the clear, but I have noticed that chicken and sugar can cause quite a bit of pain and I usually begin slimming (not fun), so I stay away from both. Unfortunately, I've discovered that breads and crackers are not a problem at all...eeep! Tomato products don't seem to bug either.

I think it's normal. Plus there were some things that didn't bother me that now do and visa versa.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
