I just read your blog...I am happy that I am able to tolerate rice and Pasta....I can have only a very little amount of it, but I can still taste it and it doesnt make me sick....I am hoping my weightloss continues so I could lose my excess weight by my 35th birthday next year....the goal is to be at the half way mark by december, and I'm close to it and I'm not 3 months out yet....

I have some complaints about my sleeve, but the by no means out weigh the positives....my knees still hurt sometimes 56 pounds lighter, I dont look at food the same way anymore, I'm more fascinated with the nutritional aspect of food now....not so much everything else.....and sweets do not over take my life, I can sit and talk with someone while they are enjoying a piece of cake, and not desire a piece for myself....now to me that is BIG!

But in the same time I NEVER tell myself I cant have it anymore, because I can....I can eat whatever I want, I just CHOOSE not to do it....there's a difference....when people ask me if I want any, I just say no thanks, and that's it....

Thank you for the Top Ten list, I am still pre-sleeve and it helps to get a real idea of what to expect. I LOVE the photos in your blog of Hawaii, I just ache to go back! My hubby and I went to the North Shore of Oahu for our 10th anniversary and I swore we would move there some day! Thanks, again, for sharing!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
