Losing Weight Rapidly..nut Says I Need To Eat More!

Recommended Posts

I went in for my 3 month check up this week. Blood work was great! My doctor said that most patients have lost 20-30% of their excess body weight by this time. I have lost 55%!!!! My doctor did not seem concerned about that, but my NUT did. She said that I should be eating 3 small meals a day and one snack. I tried and tried to tell her that I just can't eat very much at all. She gave me sample meal plans, and there is NO WAY I can eat all that at once. I was eating small Protein enriched Snacks every two hours. She wants me to stop doing that because it can cause me to make a habit of "grazing." What is the problem with grazing if you can only eat an ounce or two of anything????

I'm so confused. Did anyone else lose this fast? I walked out feeling BAD for losing. :(

I think she needs to make up her mind if your meeting your calorie requirement and doing it with small frequent meals and losing who,to,say she right if your comfortable and doc is ok I think your doing great

I also am a little over 3 months out and have lost over half my excess. I am eating and drinking all the time its all I do it seems. I cannot imagine trying to get more food in. Your metabolism may just be working well for you with what you are eating. I would just keep doing what your doing if your doctor is not concerned about your health than your doing something right.

I eat multiple meals all day. They are more like Snacks and It's better for me if I eat them slowly. I do measure everything and log it into My Fitness Pal. Do whatever works for you. If your blood work is fine and you feel fine then what is the problem? Right?

Wow! I should be so lucky to lose 50% by 3 months! I agree with the others-if it's working for you-don't stop!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
