Cyn 20 Posted August 26, 2012 My name is Cyndi and I am going to have VSG on October 15. I started my journey wanting to have the lap band, and after going through my 6 months program, the physician informed me he was no longer performing lap band surgery. He recommended I look into the VSG and come back to him in three weeks. I googled as much as I could and happily found this forum and decided that it would be the best option for me. I am excited and of course scared, but after being heavy for so long and trying just about EVERY diet out there I am ready to finally make a change. Now, I just have to control the nerves until my surgery date 3 xavtay2, mrscastillo and Velena reacted to this
Crystal Lavoie 29 Posted August 26, 2012 I know exactly how you feel! I looked into having Lapband done but something didn't feel right about it. I researched the difference between the band and sleeve and realized the sleeve was the best alternative for me. I've been overweight half my life and have a 10 week old to live for. On September 18 I fly to Mexico for my surgery. It feels right! I am so excited!! Good luck to you!
xavtay2 85 Posted August 27, 2012 Hello I went through the same exact thing! I started with Lapband as well. I went threw the whole process and was denied by my insurance because the hospital the doctor used was not using a Center of Excellence hospital. I was informed to find another Dr and I found Dr Marena in Orlando Fl. Everything happens for a reason and at first I was mad and angry! Now I know that it was not meant for me to have the Lapband but the sleeve! Now I am glad it happened the way it did and I have surgery on Sept 10th!!! Wishing you the best on your journey and lets keep in touch
Liamlover2011 66 Posted August 27, 2012 Its probably a good thing none of you are Doing lap band my MD gave some scary stats on it. Almost all countries who do the lap band are at 90% removal rate and the band often slips or gets eroded into the stomach. It's also has the lowest weight loss stats and highest regain stats... UCLA who is the national bariatric center will no longer do them at all! Good luck with the sleeve!! I have kaiser and my process is just begining... But I'm excited for the process!
