Hey Susan...thanks for checking!! It went really well. He had to repair a small hernia, so I'm still a little sore. And the gas pain was REALLY bad on Wednesday, but walking and simethicone helped. It finally went totally away today. But I drove for the first time today and that helped with the cabin fever a lot. But over all, feeling pretty good. All pre-op freak-out fears have abated lol.

Excellent, glad to hear it! I am on day 3 now, not feeling too bad. The first day was def the worst, but it really improved hour by hour. My biggest problem is the gas. Still feeling it a bit. So exciting to be on the other side now, isn't it? A whole new world is ahead of us. Best of luck!

Hey you guys! I had my surgery Friday! I am now 4 days post op. I'm feeling good other than a burning sensation whenever I drink anything. I just took my first dose of Prilosec so I'm hoping that will help. Still sore but atleast I'm able to sleep on my side. I have found that most of my hunger is "head hunger" I'm learning to work on that. I am looking forward to the full liquid diet I start on Friday just for a change in flavor. This clear liquid stinks haha but so worth it!

I've been on full liquids since the day after surgery, and am also dealing with head hunger. I feel like I could take someone out for a patty melt!!! I also don't really feel full - just stop after the required amount because I don't want to get to that "overfull" feeling. I go for my post-op dr's appointment on Thursday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
