I have done a lot of research on the preop liver shrinking diet...and I believe based on what I've read that as long as the calories are kept very low, that having a few baked crackers or a little bit of something won't hurt you...just be sure to exercise it off, and don't do it a lot.

I too am going a bit bonkers with this diet! I have had a couple bites of stuff not on the diet each of the last three days...and it really is helping me to do the rest of it well. Part of my problem is that money I was supposed to get 2 weeks ago, and use part of to go out to eat and enjoy a meal somewhere with my children, never came, and I feel so ripped off in so many ways....so I am struggling with those feelings...but working it out...coming on here often, now, is really helping. maybe that will help you too. I have also increased fluids, by making some honey peach Lipton tea, since I have no money to buy anything whatsoever...and Water gets old fast....and that's helping take the feeling of deprivation down quite a bit.

Hang in there friend! I myself lost it on my 2 week pre op and had 2 slices of pizza. I finished strong the last 6 days. While I haven't seen many people saying they did on this forum , I have met a few people in person saying they did, even some as the day before the surgery!

I broke down early on in the pre-op diet. It was more panic driven, than an actual craving. I haven't had any more relapses and I think I'll be fine, as long as I don't think about not being able to stuff myself ever again. That seems to make me panic.

I am on day 5 of the pre-op liquid diet & I haven't cheated. I really just would like some scrambled eggs. I don't know why. I make scramble eggs with all & 1/2 a yolk from one egg. Ahhh! For some reason I haven't been that hungry on it, just today good sounds good. I think bc it's the weekend & we normally go out to eat on Friday or Saturday night. Oh well! We can make it!

I am on day 6 and I think I was good only 1 day....I was put on 2 different antibiotics and effects went on for a few days after taking them so I did eat some toast and banana to calm things down...the other day I ate mainly salads and fruit. But I am trying to stay strong...so it is not only you. I am taking it one day at a time and praying for the best.

Good Luck,

Rose

I am on day 3 of 7 day liquid preop. It was killing me yesterday. My mother in law brought over 30 (!) cupcakes for the kids and my husband made BBQ for dinner. Ugh!

I took myself to the gym and took my frustrations out on the elliptical. Still wanted a cupcake! I did take a swipe at the frosting and immediately felt guilty.

I am trying to keep my eye on the prize and know that I can get through this. My surgery is 8/30, can't wait!

Its crazy how everyone seems to have that one weakness or item they craved, mine was pizza, but more importantly the bread. Owning a bread machine was the worst thing I have ever owned. They really do make u fat!

LOL...

Does anyone know if the ticker program thingy is broken?...It won't change mine, and on it's own, changed my butterfly...but won't let me adjust the colors. It's annoying...on top of that, because of all the ridiculous ads on here, it takes 2-3 minutes minimum, for every page to upload...any way to fix these things? Anyone know?

I had to be on a clear liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I cheated 3 times the first week. I realized I couldn't eat much, and when I cheated, I got sick. I had surgery Wednesday August 22nd. I lost 17 lbs on the pre-op. Hang in there. It will be worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
