ssgtko 0 Posted August 25, 2012 I everyone, I'm Karen and I'm 22 yrs old. I have about 170 pounds that I want to lose. about three weeks ago I had the sleeve gastrectomy done. the surgery went fine but I had to stay in the hospital because I was throwing up the second I woke up. that scared me to death and I was worried I had made a mistake. now three weeks has gone by and i feel much better, I had my recent check up and found out I lost 20 pounds. I'm very happy but I'm wondering if I should have lost more weight? I'd love some tips from anyone! thank you
isajck 229 Posted August 25, 2012 What does you doctor think about your weight loss at this point? Every person's journey is different, trying to compare yourself to another will probably only cause unnecessary anxiety and stress. 1 Patienlywtng on my Curves reacted to this
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted August 25, 2012 I think 20 pounds is fantastic in three weeks! What are you eating? Maybe we can help you there.
COsleeveDude 273 Posted August 25, 2012 At my one month post-op they told me my 20+ since surgery was above average, and 30+ since pre-surgery was way above average. Point is not to brag, but everyone is different. I think some people's expectations are way too high, and measuring the first month or two isn't as important as the whole first six months to one year. I tend to hear 10-20 lbs a month, 2-5 lbs / week for the first 6-12 months. Even if you only lost 2 pounds per week for a year, that would be 100+ pounds in a year. It adds up quick. ssgtko 0 Posted August 25, 2012 thank you everyone, I guess I did have my expectation really high, I'm starting to eat normal food now or purée. I always start with greens n work my way to Proteins but I get full so fast, that's the point of the surgery haha. I haven't really exercised much but my doctor told me I could start walking and lifting very light weights. any recommendations on types of exercise routines?
