uk Bansters

Recommended Posts

Hi Anne,

I' had my consult yesterday morning. He's really nice. Very honest about the procedure, he explains what your part should be to ensure that you get the best results, he also goes through all the potential complications that can occur post operatively.

He's very competent and has been doing this surgery for 10 years. He is French speaking, and his parting comment was that he operates a lot better that he speaks English, which is way better than my french!!

The hospital in Belgium is brand new with state of the art facilities, so you won't be stuck in a broken bed on a dirty Ward!!

He shows you the band and explains the fills and how many you are likely to need. He also tells you how you can contact him or his pa Deidre who is more like a patient guardian whilst you are in the hospital, accompanying you to theatre and all your consultations in case of any language problems that you may have during your stay.

I felt confident that I would receive good care when I go in for my surgery after Christmas.

Hi Cherie

I live in Surrey and am due to have my band fitted this Tuesday (17th) by Joe Horner at Ashford Hospital in Middlesex. I dont know anyone else he has banded, so would be pleased for any feedback myself.

Keep up the good work

Hi there Julie,

If you have a look on www.wlsinfo.org.uk, you will find quite a few people who've been banded by Mr Horner. It's a forum dedicated to all sorts of Weight loss surgery, and is UK based.

Good luck for tomorrow, by the way, I expect that you'll be posting by Thursday!

Hx

Hi Im from Manchester and was banded by Dr Frering in Lyon on 1st April 2006. I have a 9ml MIDband. I have had 2 fills of 2ml and 4ml and I reached my sweet spot at 6ml at about 10 weeks out from surgery.

I have lost 5st 3lbs or 73lbs whichever way you do it!

Im delighted with my band and my progress

I help co-ordinate a support group in the Manchester area and we have over 30 members so I will post up details for that and there is also 3000+ banding members from all over the UK on wlsinfo.org.uk

I will post back with full details and address of support group meets - hope some of you can join us:)

Best wishes

Delly

That is a right pain in the proverbial for you Cheri! I know it isn't easy to get a fill doctor when you have had the surgery done by someone else. I was lucky in finding the one in Telford. I was given the details of one in Manchester and another in London that deal with patients from the Chimay clinic in Belgium.

If you want I can root out the details for you?

Kind regards

Suzanne

it was 99 pounds (ha, sorry, u.s. keyboard doesn't have pound symbol:)

that was without flouro so i don't know how much it would be if he needed flouro to find your port (mine sticks out).

he was a really nice guy and happy to do fills on patients that weren't his. easy to find office as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
