4 Days Post Op. Questions

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on the 21st. I have been lucky! I was up and walking the same day, my pain level hasn't gone above a 2 (if that) and I have had worse cramps I think. My question is.... is it normal to not feel hungry or even full? I am eating the 2 ounces of recommended food 5 times a day, but I could take it or leave it... I don't feel hungry and after eating I don't feel full. Is that normal?

Thanks!

Yes. Normal. I'm 7 days out and have been on Clear Liquids all week (~250-300 cals/day) and haven't been hungry or full. Start full liquids Monday for 2 weeks Monday.

I feel the same; I could really care less if I eat or not. I love the fact that I do not want to eat because it is helping me break my addiction to food.< /p>

I'm almost 10 weeks out, and haven't experienced anything like "hunger" since the day of surgery. I use a "Diet Minder" food/exercise journal to plan my meals for the day, and make sure I stick to it. If I didn't schedule my intake, I could very easily go all day without eating (and that would be bad!). Congrats on your surgery, and best of luck to you!!

I'm 5 weeks out and not hungry at all. I have to eat at normal meal times. The full feeling I feel that! If i eat more that my 1/2 cup (and it can be just 1bite) I feel it big time. Congrats and good luck! It will get better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
