Good by to my Scruffy little dog

Im a dog groomer...edie

Edie...

I need to pick your brain! My little house mouse has issues, one of which is a TERRIBLE phobia regarding bathing/grooming/combing, etc. I had her groomed twice - both times under heavy doses of doggy Xanex. The grooming place not-so-nicely told me not to bring her back (too much time/work). They said it took 3 people - two to hold her down and one to trim her! She only weighs 5 pounds!

Anyway...just bathing her is traumatic for poor Lucy, but anything near her face/eyes (even fingertips) really sends her over the top. Any suggestions? She was 14 months old when I got her, and that was about 8 months ago.

PS....I apologize for hijacking the thread.

Carlene,

Your little 'mouse' is just adorable! We had to say goodbye to our 14 yr old Lhasa on July 27. He was diabetic and blind, but when he started having seizures, I just couldn't let him keep going thru that.

He was my Baby Bear for sure. We also have a Lhasa-Poo who is 13 but still going strong, so that helps.

Don't think it's silly at all. It's like losing a family member. You will be in my prayers and so will your puppy. I have a mini daschund and they are lots more loyal than people so I know how your feeling. My last one had cancer. Just remember he's not suffering anymore and I'm sure he misses you as well.

Hi Trish, I can relate, I lost several dogs over the years and cats too. Ugh my husband just can't seem to live without dogs and cats (me either but...we have 3 dogs and 2 cats...constantly) Hubby was making special dinner tonight for our male beagle, afraid he won't make it thru the winter..I dread this. My 9 yr old lost her hamster back in April...we both balled our eyes out! He was a truly unusual hamster..used to sit with me while I typed..odd I know) All our pets have "people" names because we treat them like family. My heart goes out to you and wish you the best. Parakeet huh, that is so cute, I was thinking of getting a Conjure, but I think the cats would have something to say about that!

Take care!!

Trish, congratulations on the new addition to your family. I hope that Patches will help to mend the hole in your heart. I don't know what I would do if I lost my buddy Caesar.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
