October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I was sleeved on 10/15. I'm reading about everyone difficulties and to tell you the truth, I'm really scared because I haven't had ANY difficulties. Besides the incision pain and being tired, I've truly had no nausea, vomiting, extreme chest pain, gas pains, etc. the only thing I'm having trouble with is drinking all the Protein Drinks. Not because I'm not tolerating it physically but because I'm just so sick of the chalky and sweet taste. I decided this morning to start my full liquids today instead of tomorrow and made a broccoli, cauliflower and potato puréed Soup and it's heavenly.

I'm not trying to brag...I'm truly scared because its been TOO easy! Something must be wrong??? I keep questioning whether my doctor actually did the full surgery beyond the incisions! I know it sounds crazy but I keep reassuring myself that if it didn't happen, I'd have passed out by now and be STARVING!!!

Is anyone else like this? I'm really scared.

I had my surgery on oct 3 and have had not one complication! Nothing! I feel great. I think what your experiences is good. Wait til you start mushy food... You'll find out you've had something done then! It's just not possible to eat much. I'm loving my sleeve!!

Hi , I am Paula ,a 54 yr young equine. Veterinarian. I have twins that are 22 , one in Medical school and the other in college. I had my sleeve on 10/8/12 and have had a bit of a bumpy ride since. Mostly dehydration. Geeze , it is hard to drink that much

I have lots of pets supporting me as well as family. Horses and Corgis are the most help since I have to constantly diet them . The team at Winchester Bariatric are great ! Good luck to all still waiting this month!

I was also sleened on 10/3. I had No symptoms, drinking Water shakes everything without. Problems. At al! Then I started mushies last wednesday. Some mushies go down quick. pureed chicken. Gets stuck after about 2 oz. i am a fast eater which is BAD. If i eat too much too fast., i get pain in my chest and slime. I am still adjusting to my sleeve and learning to eat slower nd listen to my sleeve. There are days i think I can keep eating nd eating, other days I can't get enough nutrition because of the restrictions, thise days I drink moe pure protien shakes. Good luck.

I totally agree with you I was sleeved on 10/17 and I feel great I have no pain at all just trying to get all the liquids and protein in is hard. I'm glad to know its not just me who feels good. I'm praying for everyone who are having complications that everything gets better for them.

I check in tomorrow at 7:30am central time, 10:30 procedure time. I can say I am feeling the nerves right now. Driving around town running errands and all I seem to see is restaurant signs everywhere. Driving me crazy.

Nice! I have a partner! I am totally excited for this after reading all of the positive things on here! I start my pre-op on the 20th and I am in Burlington, Vermont. I already can't sleep at night because I am so excited! LOL

So how's the pre-op diet going?? I started today... so far a nectar Protein Drink for Breakfast and an Unjury chicken Protein Soup for lunch. I gotta stay strong!!!! What were you told to eat/drink for your pre-op?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
