VitaleEM 44 Posted September 16, 2012 I completely agree with you I look at things the same way I think as nurses it is hard not to. I can think of one story in particular that just doesn't sound right to me for a multitude of reasons. I have had 3 c-sections' date='a Lap Choley, and a Partial thyroidectomy I get extremely nervous every time..I tend to worry about complications after surgery more than surgery itself things like DVT and PE especially but also things specific to the type of surgery...As for Day of Surgery I say BRING ON THE VERSED!!! Lol[/quote'] I'm more worried about the post complications as well. My surgeon gives blood thinner, so that should help. The leak is my biggest fear. I watched my dad die of c-dif. Awful. VitaleEM 44 Posted September 16, 2012 For us not in the know...what is c-dif?! Oh, sorry, it's the infection you get when things from your gut get out into the rest of your body, where they don't belong. It's an infection that requires the newest, strongest antibiotics and it's very serious. I think also very contagious and running rampant in hospitals. NDN_RN 527 Posted September 16, 2012 C-diff is actually a toxin that develops in your gut as a result of antibiotic over use. It stays in you gut causing diarrhea, bleeding, swelling of the gut, malabsorption. Severe enough it can eat away at the lining of your intestine causing erosions, possible bowel removal and death. Banned member 320 Posted September 17, 2012 Not too much longer. I meet with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist next week. I'm sure they will give me the magnesium to drink and the soap to bathe with the day of and before surgery. I know the day of I will be extremely nervous but I'm sure it will be so worth it in the end.
