October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Recommended Posts

The countdown is making it really real! I'm starting to worry about this whole "new life" thing. I kinda like my life-I just want to be able to enjoy it more! I had 3 friends who had RNY and they all had to drastically change their lives in order to stay on track-all 3 changed jobs, 2 moved out of state, and one even got divorced. I hope I won't have those kind of "side effects" with VSG. Anybody else worried?

The worst has crossed my mind as well glad that its normal. Me and my husband have been talking alot about this lately. I have to make sure that we are on the same page before I go through with this. He totally supports it and sees the outcome can benefit both of us. My husband is fit just diabetic but tall and slim and their is things that I can't do with him that I would love to do. He is also a nature outdoor body and I would love to go canoeing but I just feel that Iam way to big for that.

Thanks, Gonnabeslim1day (cool name BTW), my hubby & I have had several "heart to heart" talks too. But I still worry about work-I've been there 15years, we're a very tight knit group-I have only told a few really close friends, I actually hope I'm a slow loser so that no one will get suspicious or think I've got cancer or something. Oh well, I know I can't dwell on the "what ifs". I'll just pray for the energy and strength that I'm hoping for and put it to good use - I look forward to bicycling, trail-walking, gardening, and just not sweating at the slightest excursion.

Hey peeps' date='Im zenoosh, 34 y/o Echo-tech from CALIFORNIA. Widowed, 3 cats, ready to rock and roll on this mofo! My date is set for Oct 27 with Dr Garcia in Tijuana at Mi hospital. If you check the boards and search for Mi hospital, you'll find a plethora of great info. One of the selling points for me was the fact that its a full service hospital, not a clinic...its small, but only 2 two years old and from what I've heard, immaculately clean.Im doing a low-carb liver shrink to prepare and lose a bit before surgery. A week or two prior, I'll start Protein shakesand other liquids to shrink my tummy and liver for ease at surgery. Good luck everyone! Im planning on totally rocking my sleeve....positive vibes :-)[/quote']

I'll be there there the 26th!

I was self pay as well- I was treated like royalty! I didn't have any nausea so I didn't get nausea meds... I was prescribed liquid loritab to use at home and never needed it. I've used it once since surgery and that was for menstral camps. I was very very bloated after surgery - that made it hard for me to sleep comfortably. Once I started walking- it was like magic- the air just started exiting! I felt so much better!

Oh that makes me feel a ton better. I like CSHS way better than WK and have always received the highest standard of care. I can hardly wait!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
