Ok, I feel like a goober asksig this but Im just so darn curious. What happens to the part of your stomach that gets cut off? Im mean if it simply goes in the "trash" how did they get it out of such small incisions to do so? No laughing @ me. Ok maybe a little snicker :-D

Well, the stomach is pliable, and they just pull it out. Once cut, it's no longer a "ball", but more of like a long sock. So it comes out pretty easily out of the incision. As far as what they do with it - they probably look it over for anything susupicious (just to be sure), then chunk it in the trashcan. They may weigh it first.

That's an interesting question and I've wondered the same thing. They might use it for research, though they'd probably have to obtain your consent first (or it's in the fine print that no one reads).

the majority of my family works in various hospitals around the nation.. from what my understanding is.. with any human body part.. they put in a furnace & burn it.. like cremation.. lol same thing they do with people's limbs when they get cut off or other body parts (ie breasts for mastectomies due to cancer, extra skin from skin surgeries, etc).. that way if there's any diseases, they don't spread.. and because it's easier to dispose of ash than a bunch of body parts..

but i'm not 100% sure.. that's just what i've been told is done with human body parts. i guess they may biopsy some stuff if need be.. or do tests.. but it probably depends on the needs of the person. :)

Yes, I believe they do incinerate body parts. I was wondering the same thing! I signed a consent form for all my surgery info to be used in studies to better bariatric surgeries, I had my surgery done at U.C Davis in Sacramento which is a teaching hospital.

Yes, they cremate it. I just asked a surgeon friend of mine.

You can look on youtube and they show the actual sleeve surgery and the stomach that is removed being taken out of the incision. It was a very informative video!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
