Supersweetums 1,164 Posted August 23, 2012 I will be 2 years in November, so almost there! I do not regret having the surgery done for a second. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I eat a normal diet...don't get me wrong, I made a lot of changes to what I eat and still follow a lot of the post op rules (protein first, no drinking with meals, no bad carbs...most of the time!). But I will also eat ice cream and not feel bad about it. I still have bad days where I eat too much junk, but I find it so easy to get back on track with the sleeve. I am extremely happy...happier with my body than I have ever been in my life! It might not be perfect, but I love going shopping and wearing normal sizes, not feeling embarrassed going anywhere...feeling like the fat Mom at school events... If you are concerned, make sure you keep in touch with your family doctor because you are right, depression is not uncommon after the surgery. I had always struggle with depression since having children (I have pretty severe post-partum) and a few months after my surgery, I went on an antidepressant. 3 Red597, xlr8ahead and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Soup-a-Woman 43 Posted August 23, 2012 I'll be 2 years out in October. Best best best decision I ever made. I've lost 150 lbs - lost it in about 10 months, actually - and have kept it off since. I still eat little nibbles of food, but never feel deprived, and my lifestyle has become very active. I feel amazing. So, I would do it absolutely again in a heartbeat!! Rootman 1,101 Posted August 23, 2012 I will be 2 years December 6th. I too have NO regrets. I am thinner and more fit then ever before in my life. I do have some issues which may or may not pertain to the WLS - they all might be age and stress related, perhaps just made WORSE by the caloric shortfalls. My sleep went from bad to worse. Since puberty I've been an insomniac, meds don't help much, my mind just races and I cannot get comfortable some nights I have experienced clinical depression since early adulthood, it seems to be worse. I was on meds but could not stand what they did to m mind. I've lost quite a bit if hair but was on the way there pre-op, so it may just be age or at most just made worse by the WLS. It hurts to sit! No meat on my hip bones. I sold my motorcycle because anything over an hour in the saddle was torture. Riding a bicycle is hard too but at least I am moving around and can stand up often.
