I haven't come across a thread like this yet, so I was wondering what others have done to keep their rings on their fingers during the "inbetween" stage (post surgery, yet no where near goal). My ring has been slipping off my finger, there really isn't anything holding it in place. I don't want to go without it, and I don't want to pay for a jeweler to resize it, when in a few months the potential is there that it will need to be resized again. Any good quality products, or tips anyone can recommend? I've googled different products but everything just has such negative reviews, I don't want to spend money on something that doesn't work.

Thank you

Great question, I have been struggling with this as well. I have tried the plastic ring sizer from walmart..no go. Totally uncomfortable then I used a bandaid wrapped around. Figured next would be yarn. I just wash my hands a lot and so I can see that getting funky very quickly.... Maybe our sleeve friends have some ideas!

If you take the ring to the jewlers they can put a ring guard in it. They have some that are not permanent.

They are fairly inexpensive too maybe 10 bucks at the most.

Check with a jewler, My grandma's weight went up and down because of medication. I had found a gold band adjuster "thingy" sorry not sure what they called it. But it worked wonders she was able to wear her rings up till she passed. They had it in gold and fit nicely inside of the ring and it flexed a little bit.

I'm planning on putting mine on a nice chain- that way it's super safe and when u get it resized I still have a bonus nice neck chain-

Go on- spoil yourself!!! :)

Lol, no worries! As I've yo-yoed I've had to resize my jeweller over and over! I'm thinking of getting some of my bigger/older pieces remade when I reach my goal into something special :)

Maybe a butterfly for the transformation?!

I had to move all my rings onto fatter fingers.

I had my band resized, so no more worries about losing it. It only cost $35, why not just get it sized a few times along the way?

Sent from my mobile productivity killer.

I haven't been able to even get it off for at least 2 years. There's a permanent indentation around my finger that it sits in. Kinda scary sometimes.

My jeweler soldered two small balls on the inside palm side they are removable and don't damage the ring

I know it will sound crazy, but I used bandage/wound tape wrapped really tight (the kind I had to tape my incisions after surgery). I couldn't afford to keep getting my wedding rings sized as I lost weight (Where I am, it costs over $60). Because the tape is a little like plastic, it really didn't get yucky...and once in a while I would change it. I went from a size 9.5 to a size 6.5! At one point, before I taped it, I went to go point at something outside and flicked my wrist in the process...my ring flew right off!!

I have mine ticked away for now. I am almost at my halfway point and don't want to size it more than once. When I was pregnant with the twins I had to have it cut off and then repaired and resized up. Not sure how much they can take. I wear a different ring now in its place untill I feel comfortable enough to have them size mine.

I have a solid wedding band. I just keep moving it to different fingers. I wore my band on my middle finger. Now it fits on my pointer finger. Lol. I think it drives my hubby crazy, but he doesn't complain much. Lol. I think he'll probably draw the line if I start wearing it on my thumb! I don't think that'll happen though as I'm getting closer to goal.

Same problem here. Tried the plastic thing. ICK. Tried the metal sizer that the jeweler put in. Made my left hand numb for some reason. :/ I keep putting it on my middle finger, but it's high profile, so i keep catching it on stuff because of the new location. I'm thinking it's going to have to go back on the chain around my neck it used to live on when I was pregnant. Hopefully it'll only have to live on there for another 6-12 months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
