Water or Coke

Recommended Posts

A few snippets I round interesting enough to share

Water

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak

that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as

3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs

for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of

Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of

water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain

for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term

memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on

the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of

colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast

cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop

bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water

you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries

two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from

the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke

and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the

toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,

then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes

stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:

Rub the bumper with a rumpled piece of Reynolds

Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour

a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble

away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola

to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. Don't drink it.

#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke

into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run

through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen

grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your

windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.

It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric

acid also leaches Calcium from bones and is a major

contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the

commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place

cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean

engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

OMG Pat---I never knew!! I am sipping my Water right this very minute!!! I have not had a "Coke" by name in years and years...ick!! However I drank Diet Dr. Pepper until a couple of weeks before I was banded. Now mostly water, occasionally iced tea, or a juice drink. Another good thing the band did for me, getting rid of the carbonation!

Interesting bit---thanks!!!

Wow, that was very interesting. I do notice on days that my Water intake falls below normal, I tend to be more sluggish.

As for coke, I used to be a diet coke addict. I drank it for Breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. However, I have not had a soda of any kind since starting my pre-op diet at the beginning of April. I don't miss it and after reading this, I am glad!

Yuck! Another Water factoid:

Many low grade headaches are caused by mild dehydration. People will take aspirin or Tylenol with a glass of Water and think that the medication releived the pain, when in fact it was the glass of water.

I am going to try #8 in a load of colored clothes.

I have not been drinking all of my Water for the past 2 days so I have gallon sitting beside me right now and I plan on finishing it before I leave today. I'm almost at the half way point. I need to go to the potty for the second time .....bye

Regular coke isn't the only coke that's bad for us! Diet coke contains a derivative of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde stores in the bodies fat cells, which in turn protects the fat cell from breaking down for use as fuel. While you won't gain weight from drinking diet soda... It makes it harder for you to lose any!

I believe it applies to all diet cola's

I used to be a complete COKE addict. On average I would drink a 12 pack a day. YES, a 12 pack. It was cheap in the south. When we moved back to Michigan I brought 200 cases back in the car. I did talk the truck driver into bringing some.

When I got pregnant with my first my husband thought it was time I quit, at the OB he blurted out I was a coke addict. Of course he did not mean what the Dr thought he was talking about. CPS (child protective services) was brought into to the office. ( | was 6 months pregnant or so.) It took taking them to the house and showing my stash to get them to leave me alone....

SO now it is just Water for me. I am proud to say I am an EX coke addict!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
