I had a lap band put in back in 2007 and it never worked much for me. I told everyone I was having it done and when it failed..so did I. I was extremely embarrassed when people saw me years later and said "I thought you had the lapband". So when I have my sleeve I didn't tell many people because I was afraid of failure again.

But now 8 weeks out I really want to tell the world but I am still afraid. I have lost about 58 lbs so far but everyday I think...what if this is all I lose or what if I gain it all back. Especially when I am in a stall or gain some instead of lose. It is still a daily battle and I have to remind myself that I am doing great. I fight head hunger everyday and I am always afraid I am over eating. I try to stay around 600 calories a day. Protein first! We were walking everyday but we decided to start jogging and I hurt my back...so now I have to take a week off to let it get better. Since I am not walking I gained .6 and that stinks but I am going to keep on keeping on.

I wanted to post my picture on here of how far I have come as an encouragement to myself! I want to lose the weight and I don't want to be ashamed of how I look but I never, ever want to go back there!

Looking good!!! You should be very proud and encouraged because you are doing well. Your progress photos should be motivation in itself keep up the good work and don't worry about what others think...as long as you are happy that is really all that matters!!!

Wow you look great! In such a short amoutn of time too, you have a lot to be proud of! congrats =) By the way I went through the same emotions when I had my band removed and revised to sleeve. I kept it hush hush because of the embarrassement I felt as I was not successful with my band.

However today I'll tell anyone who asks. It's a nice liberating feeling. That said, to each their own. Whatever you feel the most comfortable with is what you should do. Good luck!!

What the heck is "sonorous"? That was supposed to be "so proud", but my iPhone liked the sound of "sonorous" much better, lol.

You look FAN-TAS-TIC, you are one pretty lady!

Do not beat yourself up over a .6 weight gain, you know that as soon as you are able to get up and move you will continue to lose. There will be times in all of our lives where we won't be able to exercise for whatever reason but as long as we get back at it as soon as possible all will be well.

I have never had any previous bariatric surgery but have lost large amount of weight before only to gain it right back so I kind of know where you have been and the fear that you have. I just have to believe that we learn from our mistakes and that everyone has battles they are struggling with in their lives it is just that those of us with weight issues have a very visible struggle and it is easier for people to judge us then to look within themselves and face their own weaknesses/failures.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
