Its Happening Sooooo Quickly!

Recommended Posts

I have always struggled with weight! I always was the fat child that kids made fun of. When I graduated high school I weighed 140 lbs. Not big right ~ well kids thought I was FAT! Oh how I wish that I weighed that now...that is my goal after I am sleeved! Right before I got pregnant with my son I wieghed 179 and for me that was a nice size - was I happy with that yes but I knew that I could afford to lose some more..then I got pregnant and gained 42 lbs. Lost most of that weight after I had my son due to complications related to my c-section. I was able to maintain my weight at 200, which again I was NOT happy with. In 2010 I got pregnant with my daughter, only gained 24 lbs with her but never lost that and gained since I had her. I always wanted to have WLS but never thought that it was available to me. My best friend had the gastric bypass in 2009 and I asked her about the drs that she went to and her response to me was you are not fat! you do not need surgery! Yes, I do I need a tool to help me lose this weight that I have struggled with all my life! So she gave me the names and I called. July 18th I had my initial consultation with the WLS Center, came home talked to my husband and that is where my journey with WLS begins. I have great insurance and only requires me to have a pysch eval and a nutrician eval. No 6 mth diet no 3 pysch evals. I was soooo happy for that. Aug 8th I had my Initial consult with the dr. He was great told ne that I would be a great canidate for the sleeve. Yesterday I met for my surgery consult with the surgeon that will be doing my surgery OMG he was the best. There are 2 drs in the practice that I am going to and they are just soooo great! They dont make you feel fat! They dont look at you as a number they look at you as some one that they are gong to help get their life back and help them lose wieght with this tool. So this today I have my pysch eval and friday I have my hour visit with the nutricianist and then Monday they will be submitting my paper work to the insurance company for approval and they tell me that I should have an answer by next Friday. I can not believe that this is happening soooo fast!!!!! I sit and think how great it is going to be to be able to chase my daughter and to not be huffing and puffing walking to the ballfield to watch my son play baseball or to be sweating from every crack and creavise and roll at his games. (you know the extra sweat that we get)

So that is my WLS story...a friend referred me to this site and it has helped me so much with answers!

Sorry to ramble but I just cant beleive that this is really happening so EXCITED to be sleeved!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
