TuscanyDreams 3 Posted August 21, 2012 Hello I'm new and had a question about BMI that I was hopping to get help with. I have BCBS of California and was wondering if they required your BMI to be above 40 for a documented length of time? My have no other health conditions and my BMI has only recently been documented over 40 and my concern is they are goring to make we wait for a year or more before I could have surgery. I've been over 35 for 8 years. Thank you
Darkkyss 33 Posted August 21, 2012 Best answer is call your insurance, Mine did so much for me when I called. They help with so many things. like what was required, instead of questioning or wondering. I spoke to someone about weekly either by phone or email.
TuscanyDreams 3 Posted August 21, 2012 Talked to my insurance company and they where not helpful at all in answering my questions. Basically they said it was up to the Doctor to determine "medical necessity". So I guess I will have to wait and see.
