Had mysurgery on 8/14/12 and have noticed a weird metallic taste in my mouth. Have any of you had this? It's driving me nuts.

That's ketosis and is normal after surgery. ketosis merely means that our bodies are using fat for energy.

Had surgery day before you and had your exact reaction yesterday. It's bad!! Did some research on ketosis about it on google and it seems common. Read it's good because it means your burning fat, but it sure doesn't taste good. Read it smells bad too!! One of the little "suprises" on my journey ;) . There are a few ideas on line about using suger free mints and carbfree, or shew fresh mint or parsley and some more . Give it a search and see what may work best for you.

Unfortunatly I did not find anything to cure it just treat it. Sorry :(

P.S. so far I got some sugarfree mints and have brushed my teeth quite a few times today. neither works for long.

I'm almost 2 weeks post-op and I have had that too. Smells bad (sorry if that's TMI), especially in the morning when I wake up... Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much I brush my tongue (using my Orabrush) and my teeth, I just can't make it go away, but mints do help! I got some medicated ones (TheraBreath: Mouth Wetting Lozenge) from CVS. Maybe they'll work for you too...

It's so encouraging learning that this means I am burning fat! Thank you so much for sharing that!

Yep, ketosis, no CURE only treating the worst of the issues. Get a tongue scraper and mouth wash for the taste. It lets up in a few weeks or months.

Incidentally this is NOT peculiar to the sleeve and happens when cutting back calories drastically by any diet.
