DON'T MAKE YOUR BAND MAD. If you try and eat solids too soon, you will swell and be right back to square one. Be patient and stay on liquids for a couple more days.

You are too tight. There is no benefit of being too tight. It will drive you to eat things that you can get through the band which are NOT going to help you lose. Remember, the band is made to hold food in the pouch for a couple hours, thus keeping you from being hungry. If you are drinking all you eat, you are defeating all the reasons you got the band. Get an unfill. Take it from my experience!!! Being too tight is miserable and no, it won't loosen up in a couple days.

My band doctor's philosophy on fills...."better to be a bit too loose and able to eat too many bites of chicken breast than too tight and eating milkshakes"

Get an unfill!

Oh, and being too tight is the #1 reason for slips.

This is all very true.

This is not necessarily true. I have often had fills that "loosen up" in a week or two. At our house the joke is that it takes 2 weeks for my fills to loosen up, and two weeks for my husband's to show up. Everyone is different.

My band doctor's philosophy on fills...."better to be a bit too loose and able to eat too many bites of chicken breast than too tight and eating milkshakes"

Good philosophy! And good advice, too!

This is certianly something that many doctors, including mine, suspect. My surgeon will no longer do fills without fluoro for this very reason. Being over-filled for a week or two is not generally thought to cause slippage, however. Being over-filled for a long time is definitely not a good idea - for lots of reasons.

Hey gals..thanks for the advice...believe it or not..I am starting to loosen up a little...I had a scrambled egg earlier...the doc said to give it a week and we will re-eval then...he said as long as I am able to stay hydrated then give it a week and see how it goes then...I am starting to be able to eat a little so I think it may loosen up...and I ask him about the slippage and he said as long as it doesnt go on for LONG extended periods of time then we should be fine...he said we will keep a watch on it...THANKS for the advice you guys are the BEST !! MUCH LOVE

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
